1974 FORD CAPRI MKII 3.6 V8 FF FOUR WHEEL DRIVE

This very special car, has been unused for many years and will require restoration. It started out as a Capri MK 2 Ghia that was sent down to Harry Ferguson in Coventry to be fitted with one of his four- wheel drive, electronic anti skid systems. At the same time, a blue printed and bench tested Alan Smith 3.6 litre Oldsmobile V8 was fitted, set up for future turbocharging. The original gearbox was replaced with a blueprinted and uprated Borg-Warner 65 auto box and Laycock J type overdrive. Cooling was looked after by a purpose made Marston crossflow 4-row radiator with twin cooling fans. A long range 22 gallon fuel tank was also fitted giving a 500 mile range. Along with the custom paint job, Thrush Sidekick exhaust silencers, Koni strutt dampers, Wolfrace wheels, 'Frigiking' air conditioning and Recaro seats with built in Blaupunkt stereo headrests. All in, the car cost £15,572, a huge sum in the mid 1970's. Comes complete with MoTs dating from the 1980s, magazine article, 1983 bill of sale, specification sheets and a handful of receipts. The mileage is recorded at 32,333.
