1974 VIKING TOURER

This car has a Viking Tourer kit-car chassis and mechanicals, based on a Morris Marina. It retains its 1974 Marina 1300 running gear with 1275cc A-series engine, with the exception of the rear axle, which is MG Midget. The body, however, is a genuine MG NA body which replaced all the remnants of the original Viking body. The fuel tank from an MG NA was also fitted. The braking system is dual circuit with a Freelander servo, all pistons, calipers, shoes pads and hard-lines are new, NOS or refurbished. Wheels are 2.5" x 18" as fitted to the MG NA with Blockley tyres; the vendor reports that with these wheels and tyres, the driving experience remains very ‘vintage’. The radiator is from a Triumph TR3, the shell is MY Y-Type (modified to fit) and the gauges are modern electronic reproductions with the exception of the speedometer. This is housed in a matching case but contains the original Morris Marina internals and odometer, so the mileage reading of 68,831 miles could well be correct. However, the coil-driven tacho has stopped working. The steering column comes from a 1970s' or 1980s' Ford, as is the ignition barrel and key. An inspection has been carried out on the engine and it is believed to be excellent. The car is correctly registered as a Viking Tourer, with a registration date of March 1974 (based on the donor Marina). The history folder includes the V5C, photos of the car and some of the work done, and assorted recent bills including one from June 2022 for brake renewal.
