1978 TRIUMPH SPITFIRE 1500 O/D

Our vendor purchased this Triumph Spitfire 1500 in 2010 and drove it 300 miles home from Newcastle. A full strip down and nut and bolt restoration was then commenced, including a full respray and mechanical overhaul. The aim of the project was to have a fully restored car, rebuilt with reliability in mind in preparation for the 2012 RBRR 2,000+ miles 48 hour round Britain run. The Spitfire performed without fault and including getting to and from the start points covered 2,400 miles. Three subsequent Round Britain Reliability Runs were completed in 2014, 2016 and 2018 since when it has been on more light local duties. Described by our vendor as an extremely reliable example that drives very well with the overdrive gearbox working very smoothly indeed. The car was registered in August 1978 and is now showing 105,910 miles on its odometer. Its last MoT expired in June 2021 after having been tested the previous year at an indicated 105,432 miles. Accompanying the Spitfire is its current and previous V5Cs, owner's handbook, MoT certificates and assorted invoices.
