While the Ferrari-produced mid-engined Dino is the most famous - and sought after - holder of the name, Fiat also built its own sports car with the same name and powered by the same 1987cc V6 engine. The convertible Spider (as here) was designed by Pininfarina while the coupe was the work of Giorgetto Giugiaro at Bertone. Fiat’s own Dino 206 GT - another Pininfarina effort - finally appeared in November 1967 at the Turin Motor Show, a full year after Fiat had sneaked out its own initial Dino model. Production ran from 1966 to 1973.

This early example was built at the Fiat Mirafiori plant in Turin in December 1967, confirmed by a Fiat dating letter which comes as part of the history file. By 2016, it was in the UK, being re-registered here in April 2016. At its first British MoT in January 2016, the odometer indicated 22,342km (the equivalent of of 13,880 miles). It’s now showing 22,679km so has received little use and been dry-stored when not being driven. The last MoT expired in April 2019, having been tested the previous year at 22,618km. The V5C records just two keepers since the car came to the UK. A full service, at a cost of close to a thousand pounds, was carried out in December 2017.

The Fiat is in very good order throughout, including its hood, which is in such great condition that it is likely to have been replaced at some point. A stainless steel exhaust system has been fitted, which gives a lovely, rich rasp to the V6 engine.

Paperwork accompanying the Dino includes the current and past V5Cs, magazine features, a Brooklands Road Test book on the model, Fiat dating letter, and MoT certificates from 2016, 2017 and 2018. There's also various UK invoices plus some Italian registration documentation along with the ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano) vehicle plaque. The vehicle also comes with its original tool kit.
