William Beardmore and sons made Hackney Carriage bodies for London’s taxis for many years, initially from a factory in Paisley, near Glasgow, but later from their own works in Hendon, London, closer to where the majority of cabs were sold. The 1954 Mk 7 was Beardmore’s own design. It was a purpose-built cab, with a single seat driver’s compartment and seating for five in the back.

This example was manufactured in 1958 and as can be seen in its original buff logbook was sold new in October 1958 to London Cabbie, Percival Dennis.

It is understood that the Taxi was discovered in the early Nineties by its third owner who recommissioned it back to roadworthy condition and used it for shows and events, before passing it on. Although initially fitted with a diesel engine, at some point the engine was changed to a Ford 1700 litre unit, as used in the Consul, Classic and Capri, with a three-speed column-change transmission. Has previously been used as a historic taxi at the Goodwood revival

Comes with the original Buff log book, V5C, assorted handbooks and information about Beardmore taxis.
