This 1932 Standard Nine R9 was used for the production of Why Didn't They Ask Evans?, a TV adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel screened in 2022 starring Hugh Laurie, Jim Broadbent and Emma Thompson (among others). During filming, the car sustained some planned damage but this has now been professionally repaired by a classic car body shop, looking much smarter than it did in the TV drama. Because the accident was staged for a TV production, the Standard 9 is not recorded as a total loss and has clear title. The history folder includes the current and some previous V5Cs, a selection of bills including one for five new tyres in July 2019, assorted MoTs, various club magazines and other sundry paperwork. The odometer shows 77,011 miles. There is some uncertainty about the original date of registration; although the V5C states it was registered in 1932, it is believed to be a 1934 model.
