1275cc, manual. This exciting Mini Cooper S is an extensively restored and upgraded Mk2 example, imported from Australia in 1992. Clearly specced with competitive events in mind, the car benefits from a tidy red and white interior with a range of auxiliary electrics, exterior spot lamps (which are not wired in) and sump guard.

The vendor has owned the car since 2001. He tells us that the engine’s rebuild by Peter Burgess Automotive included lightening and balancing, with all its parts being either renewed or reconditioned, and the fitment of two H4 carbs. The shell was restored with new wings, a front panel, lower panels and windscreen, and the doors were reskinned by Mini Doors of Preston. New brake discs and callipers were fitted, along with all brake pipes, a new wiring loom and new rubber seals. The interior was also renewed using items supplied from Newton Commercial in Suffolk (receipts are included).

Since restoration, the Mini has only been used for shows, so it remains in impressively tidy and usable condition. The history file contains a nice collection of photographs, some taken before and during its restoration, together with old registration paperwork dating from its time in Western Australia. The V5C is present, indicating 5 former keepers in the UK, and there’s a nice collection of MoT certificates going back to 1994, various parts receipts from 2007, and a dyno printout from 2013 showing a feisty 89bhp. It’s also supplied with 4 spare original steel wheels.

The car passed its last MoT with no advisories in 2018, and as a historic vehicle it is exempt from testing requirements. The odometer shows 33,684 miles.
