1991 VW GOLF MK1 GTI SPORTLINE

1781cc petrol, 5spd manual. The GTi Sportline was a special edition ‘runout’ model of the original MkI Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet, limited to only 449 units. All featured Black paintwork, black BBS wheels, fuel-injected 1.8-litre engine, and black Recaro seats and red needles in the instruments. This tidy example was purchased by the vendor in 2016 and soon put into storage, shortly after receiving a full service. In his 10-year tenure the car has only covered around 400 miles, but it has been put through 5 MoT tests which were all passed without advisories. The current certificate is valid to 6th July 2027.

The adjustable, lowered suspension was installed by the previous keeper, and the history file contains a stack of invoices which indicates considerable investment from 2011-16. This included £1140 for an engine rebore and overhaul at 127k miles in 2012, and a timing belt kit in 2016. Today the odometer shows 132,603 miles. The file also contains old tax discs, current V5C, a collection of MoT certificates going back to 2011, and materials relating to the Mk1 Golf Owners' Club.

The car is accompanied by its handbook pack, locking wheel nut key, a tonneau cover, and a heavy duty car cover.
