Buying A Classic
Classic Vewing is available on the Friday before the auction. Opening at 2pm until 6pm, it gives you the opportunity to view the cars on offer, together with the documentation that comes with them, in a more relaxed atmosphere. The admission fee is £5 by catalogue. If you are unable to attend the actual auction, this enables you to leave a bid having viewed the car in person. If you are still attending the auction, you can arrive later or when the car is being offered, having already satisfied yourself that you wish to bid. As long as you bring your catalogue, you gain free admission.
If you are unable to attend the Viewing, the doors open at 10am on sale day which gives you two hours to look around the cars and peruse the documents before the auction starts at 12 midday. You will need to register for a bidding number in the office.
Remote Bidding: If you are making a telephone or fixed bid, this will need to be registered by 7pm Friday 3rd November. Please refer to the information below regarding remote bidding.
Debit Cards: Please note that debit cards incur a fee of £3.50 per £'000. This was a fee introduced by Visa from December 2016.
There is a buyers premium of 5% (+vat) to be added to your bid price. Please note that there is a minimum fee of £100 (+vat).
If you are not paying in full on the day, you can pay the outstanding balance by card over the telephone, directly into the bank or on collection if this is on or before the Wednesday following the auction. All accounts need to be settled by the following Wednesday at the latest. There will be an additional fee for paying by credit card and debit card. There is also a bank charge payable for transfers made within the EU of £7 and £15 for all other countries.
If you wish to bid, but unable to view at anytime, you have two options as below.
Telephone Bid: You register all your details with us by telephone or email, paying a deposit as outlined below. This allows you to bid live at the time the vehicle is being offered through one of our representatives.
Fixed Bid: Again this can be arranged by telephone or email. You will be required to confirm the maximum amount that you wish to bid.
With regards to both of the above options, we like to be assured that we have provided you with as much information as we possibly can, so a walk-round description over the telephone can be arranged.
If you are a successful bidder, whether provisionally or outright, and are not paying for the vehicle in full on the day, you will be required to leave a deposit as detailed below. This applies to both bidders who are present and those who are registering for a telephone/fixed bid:
Bids made after 7pm on FRIDAY 3rd November cannot be guaranteed.
Purchase Price: Deposit Payable:
Up to £5,000 £500
Up to £15,000 £1,000
Up to £25,000 £2,000
Up to £40,000 £3,000
If your bid has been taken provisionally by the auctioneer due to it being lower than the vendors reserve, you are still required to pay a deposit until it is confirmed whether your bid has been accepted. A deposit paid by debit or credit card will incur fees, so if you are unsuccessful, please be aware that a fee will charged and deducted when refunded.
