LOT 78  Confirmed entry on behalf of the executors.  This car was bought by the late owner in the early 1960's and was used an enjoyed regularly although later that decade the car was sold on, being replaced by various cars including a Triumph Spitfire.  However as time marched on and retirement approached, he wanted to trace the TR3 as he regretted selling it and if possible buy it back as it was such an important car to him and his wife.  At one point his search ended with the discovery that the car had been sold the previous day although the new owner offered him first refusal if he ever decided to sell.  The search was ultimately successful, finally acquiring the car some eight years ago.  He then undertook a full restoration of the TR3 to original specification and continued to enjoy the car again with his wife until his untimely death in 2007.  Since then the car has been in dry storage.

1930 Ford Model A Doctors Coupe

.

LOT 11  Henry Ford resisted replacing his beloved Model T for as long as possible, but rival products made it look hideously outdated. So, when the Model A was launched in 1927, it had a tough act to follow. All Model A's were powered by a 200 cu in (3.3-litre) four cylinder engine (driving through a three-speed 'box) and it was initially priced at $450. Four and a half million were sold: one million had been made by Feb 1929 and two million by late July 1929. The Model A was the first Ford to use pedals in a conventional layout. The fuel tank was in the cowl and used gravity feed to the carb and was the first car to use a safety glass windscreen. 1930 and '31 model A's had stainless steel radiator cowls and headlamp housings.
