The Star was Lincolnshire kit-car manufacturer Sylva's first offering, launched in 1982. It was based on a purpose-built two-seater chassis using the front subframe and the rear axle from a donor Vauxhall Viva. The car was most often powered by 1.3- and 1.6-litre four-cylinder Ford Kent ‘Crossflow’ engines, although other engine options were available; in the case of this one, a 1256cc Vauxhall Viva unit. The components used date from 1972, but the finished Sylva was registered in July 1998. It is MoT'd to June 2023 and the odometer shows 3306 miles, although this isn't warranted. It was last serviced in June 2022. Recent work noted by the vendor runs to rebuilt brakes including wheel cylinders, master cylinder, rebuilt calipers and new top and bottom ball joints. There's also been a replacement speedometer cable, radiator repair and replacement hoses. The engine was rebuilt and a replacement gearbox fitted in 2014. The car comes with a hood frame, sidescreens and a few spares. Documentation accompanying the Sylva includes the V5C, various invoices (mainly from around 2014), a copy of an article about putting a Viva engine back together, and MoT certificates from 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2021 and 2022.
