1961 LAND ROVER LIGHT 4X4 UTILITY 

Fire Armour made many fire engines for the overseas market from 1952 until it was taken over by HBC in 1964 and ceased construction. This 1961 Land Rover was one of its machines that stayed in the UK. Registered in January of that year, the fire engine went to British Steel Redcar, where it remained until the late 1970s, after which it was transferred to Stanton and Stavely Holwell Works in Melton Mowbray where it remained until 1998, after which it passed into private hands. It was then treated to a nut-and-bolt restoration over a number of years, including a new wiring harness, elephant hide seats, copper brake pipes and complete bare metal rebuild. The Godiva pump was stripped and cleaned, new bearings fitted to the priming pump. The ladder and most of the equipment remains original though. The trailer pump that once accompanied this vehicle is now preserved by the Workington Heritage Transport Trust. The odometer records 9947 miles and two former registered keepers are shown on the V5C. The 2.25-litre petrol-engined unit comes with its V5C, and assorted invoices back to 1998, plus pump instructions and diagrams and lots of pictures of the restoration. This is a chance to acquire an unusual Series Land Rover that should attract lots of attention at shows.
